BRUSSELS, BELGIUM (APRIL 04, 2012) (REUTERS) - Waffles, mussel fritters, hundreds of traditional beers and some of the world's finest chocolate makers: welcome to Belgium.
Every year, chocolate shops in the Belgian capital Brussels compete to offer the best Easter eggs.
White, dark or milk chocolate, big or small: chocolate lovers have many to choose from.
Several of European countries have entered recession and moderation is in everyone's mind.
"It is a nice treat every now and again but in moderation, and probably more moderation now because of the economic crisis," an American tourist said.
But many will not change a thing: "Chocolate is what's good, I really enjoy it, it's delicious. Easter means chocolate !," another chocolate lover said.
Belgium chocolate maker Neuhaus invented the praline in 1912 and the country's reputation for chocolate grew from there.
Every year, the country exports thousands of tons of chocolate abroad.
Eggs in all form and shapes are this year's Easter stars in Belgium.
