Fitted feminine waists, fur, felt and a flurry of other fabrics at John Galliano Autumn/Winter 2014 at Paris Fashion Week.
PARIS, FRANCE (MARCH 2, 2014) (REUTERS) - If one thing stood out at the John Galliano Autumn/Winter show, it was the fabrics -- from velvet fused with neoprene to double silk georgette and silk back crepe, textiles ruled the runway on Sunday (March 2) in Paris.
A chocolate brown crocodile-print dress walked was sent down the runway, followed by a powder blue and dark caramel dress with fur on the shoulders.Beautifully tailored skirts with tucked waists and pleats gave the silhouette a delicate feminine look.
But the sculpted curves were offset with chunky ankle boots of lizard and antelope fur and beanie knit hats which were embroidered with feathers and drop crystals.
"The clothes perhaps, if you took them out of context, I mean they're very sophisticated and in a way quite grown-up. But I wanted to show them worn in a young way which is the funky hand-knit hats, beaded and sequinned and cool funky shoes, the platforms and snakeskin with Gazelle, make it look young," designer Bill Gaytten told Reuters Television after the show.
"And knitwear, lots of knitwear, which is really young," he added.
The colour palette was elaborate with smoked shades of grey, Bordeaux red, pink, mustard and cream.
The pret-a-porter shows continue in Paris until Wednesday (March 5).
