A man rescues three goldfish found swimming down the street in floodwater in the UK, placing them in a teapot
EGHAM, SURREY, ENGLAND, UK (FEBRUARY 18, 2014) (ITN) - A resident of a flood-hit area in the UK rescued three goldfish swimming down a street in floodwater, by putting them in a teapot, on Tuesday (February 18).
Dave Pope, from Egham in Surrey, said: "I was walking down the road, suddenly saw a splash of orange, I thought 'Hello, hello a goldfish!' So I managed to catch him in my hands."He said he found two fish swimming in flood water in a street nearby. A third goldfish was found by his neighbour's children.
He told a local reporter he also found a teapot nearby which he used to put the fish in before putting them in a bucket of water.
His plan for the fish, he told the reporter, was to return them to their owner and if that fails, to put them in his brother's pond.
Surrey, a county to the southwest of London, has been inundated for several days with flood water from the Thames.
The UK has had a winter of heavy rain, which has forced its rivers to break their banks.
