Food manufacturer J&D Foods have come up what they claim is the world's first bacon-themed coffin.
BACON BOYS / LMNO PRODUCTIONS - Even during your last moments on Earth, you could decide to bring your favorite food with you to your afterlife. And if it happens to be bacon, your funeral is in for a treat. The Seattle based company, J&D Foods, the makers of Bacon Salt and Baconnaise, have created the Bacon Coffin, "the world's first bacon-wrapped casket."
Justin Esch and Dave Lefkow, the self-proclaimed Bacontrepreneurs, claim that the, "bacon coffins are finished with a painted bacon and pork shading and accented with gold stationary handles" just like freshly cooked strips of bacon. Adding, "the interior has an adjustable bed and mattress, a bacon memorial tube and is completed in ivory crepe coffin linens."
This one of a kind coffin sells online for $2999.95 USD plus shipping, and the company has already made its first sale to a man in Des Moines, Iowa. Although some tourists around Times Square, New York, had second thoughts about this unique final resting place.
"I think if people are willing to pay $3,000 dollars to be wrapped in their favorite meat then good for them," says Emma Pemgelly, an English tourist.
On the other hand, Jake Shaw, also an English tourist thinks differently, "I think it's horrible, to be honest. It's saying people die of eating too much, or whatever. Is that their statement? I don't understand," Shaw says.
Bacon lover Barbara Reblo, a tourist from Portugal likes bacon but draws a line between herself and the pork.
"I do like bacon, but not a bacon coffin," she says. However, Michael Arcangeletti, a student in New York, might take his love for bacon to the next level saying, "I'd be interested. I mean, I like bacon. Being with that forever might be fun."
Justin and Dave, also known as the Bacon Boys have entered an exclusive partnership with LMNO Productions to develop a primetime reality series. The show will follow the company as they plan out wild bacon infused publicity stunts. The bacon coffins were used to help promote their new bacon croutons.
