As royal fans gathered for the christening of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby, gamblers placed bets on what sort of life Prince George will lead when he's older.

LONDON, ENGLAND, UK (OCTOBER 23, 2013) (REUTERS) -  Well-wishers and royal fans gathered outside St James's Palace on Wednesday (October 23) for the christening of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's baby, Prince George.

The three-month-old third-in-line to the British throne will be baptised in a private low-key ceremony inside the Chapel Royal at the palace at 1500 (1400gmt).

An official photograph to be released on Thursday will show the reigning monarch, Queen Elizabethposing with the three heirs, her son Prince Charles, Prince William and the baby Prince George.

"History is being made and for me it is always a privilege to be here," said 78-year-old Terry Hutt, who camped out overnight in the pouring rain to be close to the action.

Bookmakers have been taking bets on all manner of speculations about Prince George's christening and future life.

William Hill betting chain spokesman Rupert Adams said royalty and gambling combine two of Britain's great passions.

"Everyone loves to speculate on the royal family full stop. And so, with Prince George, what is going to happen, what does the future hold for him? Then they think 'Oh, I tell you what, I bet he'll do the following' and instead of just saying it, they come in and have a pound or two," he said.

Odds on whether Prince George will cry during the baptism are just 10/11. Because the ceremony is private, William Hill are allowing a week to pass for news to leak out about how the young heir actually behaved.

Other bets on offer include whether George will follow in his father's footsteps and attend Eton College(1/4) and 6/1 whether he achieves three A grades in his A-level exams, taken by 17-year-olds in England.

At 66-1 is whether George will marry a Hollywood star and at 100-1 whether he will win an Olympic medal.

Adams said that bet was already proving popular, because the royal family already have a history of being Olympic medallists.

"We offered what I thought personally was quite a short price of 100-1 that Prince George wins an Olympic medal. Now, what people have done, they have sat down and looked at the form and there are Olympic medals in the family already with Princess Anne, you've got Zara, you have got various sports that if you are born into a relatively privileged background you have a fairly good chance of doing well in," he said.

Another popular bet is whether Prince George will have a little brother or sister sometime soon -William Hill are offering 6/4 he will by Christmas 2014, 11/10 he will by 2015 and 12/1 not until 2017 or later.
