U.S model Mirielle Butigian talks about her Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week preparations and what it's like to be a model.
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York is made up of many parts.

From designers, makeup artists to hair stylists.

But it's the models that play a key part to a show.

APM model Mirielle Butigen is appearing in her second Fashion Week, and says that preparing for the shows involves prepping both your mind and body.

Mirielle Butigen, model, saying:

"Well you know, I think just sleep, make sure you get a lot of sleep, eat healthy just so that physically if you're in the right state then you know mentally you will be in the right state too."

Butigen started off her week at the Mara Hoffman presentation.

Different from a runway show, models stand for roughly an hour as spectators walk around to view the collection.

While some may view the models as statues, Butigen says it's all about how you think about things.

Mirielle Butigen, model, saying):

"I still feel like a human being who thinks and talks, and does different things. I don't consider myself like a mannequin. It's all about your mental state."

Which was hard to believe as she was being pulled in various directions.

The glamorous world of modeling comes with many stereotypes, the most well known is that the girls are unhealthy.

Mirielle Butigen, model, saying):

"I mean people think that just because you're so thin that you don't eat, but that's not the case. I know for me, like I've been really blessed that I have a super fast metabolism. So it's actually hard for me, like I have to, especially with fashion week you're running around. So I have to eat more just to keep my weight up because I have such a fast metabolism."

So if you're a model looking to conquer the runways of Fashion Week, APM Model Management booker Guillermo Perez has a few tips.

Guillermo Perez, APM Model Management, saying:

"Lots of personality, be yourself. You know, obviously be poised, listen and ask questions."

Butigen is currently confirmed to appear in 5 shows and on-hold for several others during Fashion Week.
