NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORKUNITED STATES (APRIL 17, 2013) (REUTERS) - Dita Von Teese is sharing her love for vintage lingerie with her clothing label Von Follies by Dita Von Teese.

The 40-year-old burlesque dancer has been selling items in EuropeAustralia and online since last year. Now select items from her collection are being made available to a wider audience via the U.S. television shopping channel HSN.

For Von Teese her love of intimate apparel is deeply rooted.

"I've always had a fascination with lingerie. I remember even from when I was very young, like six years old I was always very intrigued by my mother's lingerie drawer. And for me it was like lingerie was symbolic of womanhood and femininity. And kind of like a mysterious secret, but also physically very beautiful," said Von Teese who admittedly owns an extensive collection of vintage lingerie.

Special attention was paid to fabric selection, design and the quality of the lingerie, which is something that makes Von Teese very proud.

"I love beautiful expensive, frivolous lingerie. I love it, I have lots of it, I love it, you know. But one of my favorite moments in creating this line was. I had a pair of $150 (USD) panties and I had panties I made and I said to someone who didn't know, who hadn't seen anything. I said, 'which one of these do you think is the $20 dollar panty, which one do you think is the $150 one?' And she pointed out mine as being the $150 one and I thought, that's exactly what I'm trying to do," she said. The items in her line at HSN will range from $25-45 USD.

In addition to providing products at an affordable price point, it was important for Von Teese to design for women of all shapes and sizes.

Although lingerie is not normally for public consumption, Von Teese said slipping on luxurious garments under your outerwear can emit special powers.

"Honoring yourself by not wearing ripped, like old ill-fitting lingerie that you would be embarrassed to be seen in. I feel like there is something that comes through in your everyday life when you indulge in these little moments of luxury," she explained.

Von Teese began performing burlesque is the early 90's and has since become the go-to for advice on seduction and sex appeal. When asked to define sexy, Von Teese said it's all about self-confidence.

"For me this is what makes me feel good. And someone can say, 'oh, she wears too much makeup, oh her hair's too black, her skin's too pale, it's too extreme.' But this is what makes me feel good. Dying my blonde hair black, makes me feel good," she told Reuters.

The line will official launch on HSN on April 23rd.
