For the past nine years, musical saw players have gathered in Queens, New York to celebrate the art of playing music on hand saws.
According to the Musical Saw Festival, which organizes the concert, this is one of the largest musical hand saw ensembles in the world. The festival, which took place this year on Saturday (July 16), featured world premiers of music written especially for hand saws.
The festival was founded in 2003 and organizers say it brings together hand saw musicians from around New York City and the world, with some musicians traveling from as far as Japan, China and India.
In 2009, the festival set a new Guinness World Record by staging the largest musical hand saw ensemble with 53 musicians playing at once.
