SHANGHAICHINA (JANUARY 16, 2013)  (CCTV) Sixty-six Chinese flight attendants joined in a synchronised dance at Shanghai airport on Thursday (January 16), state media reported.

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV broadcast footage of flight attendants performing a dance in front of gathering crowds of travellers in a terminal of the Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

The dance incorporated traditional elements of Chinese martial arts as well as modern hip-hop inspired moves,CCTV said.

"I think it's just like being in a big party, incredibly happy, and it had that sort of atmopshere too. And everyone was taking photos, shouting and cheering us on," said flight attendant Gao Min.

The dance's organiser said that it was performed to give travellers a "pleasant" spectacle during the Chinese Spring Festival travel rush.

CCTV said that China's 2014 Spring Festival travel rush started on Thursday, with an estimated 3.6 billion passenger trips being made across the country during the 40-day holiday travel period.

According to state-run Xinhua News Agency, the numbers are up from last year, with roughly 200 million more trips being made.
