Scottish designer Christopher Kane shows why he's one of the hottest young designers to emerge from Europe with his purple reign collection.
LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (FEBRUARY 20, 2012) (REUTERS - British designer Christopher Kane introduced an original new collection at London Fashion Week on Monday (February 20), showing a new shape with stiff square-panelled dresses and jackets.
The carpet was purple and so were many of the clothes which all had a tough edge and plenty of attitude.
American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who spotted Kane as a student at London's Central Saint Martin's fashion college, is a long-time devotee. She arrived early to chat to Kane and watch the show rehearsal.
Also there was British Prime Minister David Cameron's wife, Samantha Cameron, who was kept a safe distance from the media by several bodyguards.
British television presenter and fashionista Alexa Chung told Reuters Television she loved everything about Christopher Kane.
"I like that he has a dark side that he likes to explore but always produces really wearable, beautiful clothes and it's almost like the closer you get to them the more amazing they become. And because the style is so unique, nothing ever ages, so if you invest in one of his pieces now you know, it will always carry through, like I've got a skirt - a number of seasons ago and it's still my favourite thing ever. I just think he's really really clever and funny and nice."
She also revealed she'd been having a little too much fun at London Fashion Week.
"I've been partying too hard. That's the thing, you go out and you're like this is really fun so, say the Stella party or last night was the Mulberry thing and you forget you've got to get up in the morning and be on camera and you're asking me something and your brain is confused. That's where the dark glasses come in you see. that's why I think Anna (Wintour) wears glasses".
London Fashion Week runs until February 23.
